My sister Megan was married last summer on August 11th.
She was married on the beach on Cape Cod, where we grew up,
and called her aesthetic "beach chic". Megan asked if I would
design the bridesmaids dresses for the lovely day, and I ended up
designing not only those, but her dress, my mother's, and the
flower girl's as well.
My sister is a graphic designer with an acute sense of design
and has always had strong opinions as to how she wants things to
look. With much dedication and many late nights, she created the
entire concept of her wedding from the stunning grasscloth invitations
she made herself, printing and tying bows, to the hand-collected
seashell napkin rings.

The bridesmaids consisted of her best friends, our cousin Melissa, and myself. We varied in sizes & styles but all wanted
a dress we could dance in all night and still look svelte and beach chic. Megan and I decided to use a buttery celedon cotton
jersey we found in Manhattan, the color matching perfectly her scheme. Then the design fell into place after we perused
many bridal magazines mostly filled with gaudy designs. We thought a bandeau top would be lovely with our summer tans,
we did a rusched bandeau top with soft boning at the side-seams for support and stay. The shape of the top allowed all of us
to fill out the dress in our own way without appearing too different. The body of the dress was an empire waisted plummet
of gathered fabric that hid our imperfections and made us all look consistent.

This dress was also picked up by Conde Nast and we
have sold many to our made-to-measure clients. To

The necklaces the bridesmaids are wearing were also designed by my sister and created by Dahl.
Inspired by shells my sister found on our favorite beach they are made from sterling silver. Click the
